Police commend Sam Maris University’s security as VC pledges continued support
The Vice-Chancellor of Sam Maris University, Supare-Akoko, Ondo State, Prof. Francis Gbore, has assured the Nigeria Police Force of the institution’s commitment to strengthening collaboration to sustain the robust security framework already established on the campus.
Prof. Gbore gave the assurance when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Supare Divisional Police Headquarters, CSP Ayodeji Lijofi, paid a courtesy visit to the university.
Welcoming the newly deployed police chief, the Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s dedication to the safety of its students, staff and visitors, stressing that the management would continue to reinforce existing security structures.
He noted that the institution has always prioritised security and remains resolute in maintaining a peaceful environment conducive to learning and academic excellence.
“We have never taken security matters lightly. We have ensured that there are no breaches in our security framework, and we will continue to strengthen it,” Gbore said.
“You can count on our support at all times. The University Management is committed to working closely with the Police and other security agencies to ensure that the campus remains secure,” he added.
Earlier, CSP Lijofi commended the management of Sam Maris University for what he described as the institution’s robust and proactive security architecture.
He noted that the relationship between the police and the university has remained mutually beneficial, adding that the peaceful environment of the institution has contributed significantly to effective security operations in the area.
“The relationship between the police and the university is symbiotic,” he said.
“I must commend the Proprietor for situating the university in a serene environment and for the commendable measures already put in place to safeguard the campus.”
The DPO further revealed that the police had not received any distress calls from the institution, attributing the development to the proactive security arrangements implemented by the university management.
“We appreciate the deployment of vigilante personnel around the campus. It will go a long way in ensuring that lives and property are protected,” he stated.
Lijofi explained that the visit was primarily for familiarisation and to strengthen collaboration with the institution.
“We want to assure management that the police will continue to work closely with the university to ensure that Sam Maris University remains a safe and secure environment for teaching and learning,” he added.
